It has reached my ears that there exists a person called Lady Gaga. I don’t know whether she is a member of the British aristocracy, or “Lady” is her name, like that dog in the movie, but I’m told that she makes her living by donning surprising costumes and singing and dancing. She is coming to sing and dance in Cape Town soon, and I say good luck to her. I shan’t be attending her performance because that sort of thing isn’t what floats my boat; but I’m quite sure that there are plenty of people who will enjoy what she has to offer in the way of entertainment.
Her imminent arrival has also flushed the usual crew of crackpots and lunatics out of their malodorous lairs. They have set up a facebook page called “Christians against Lady Gaga & Beyonce’s SA tours!!” They claim—amongst other things—that Lady Gaga is a satanist and may even be the bride of satan. Here’s a sample of the comments left on the site:–
Pls pls BC ths,it’s Very important!We cannot allow Lady Gaga 2 enter ths country,and we Cannot support her!Fellow believers in Christ Jesus you may or may not know the seriousness of what I am saying now. We need to stand firm against the Lady Gaga concert she is a confessed satanist and a bride of satan letting her in to SA for her concert will bring spells of evil. Let this concert be cancelled in Jesus name btw Gaga is a name of a demon incase u did not know-pass on and take a stand… Its time for us as believers and followers of Christ to take our STAND!!

We should not be forgetful of the lessons of history: it was towering intellects like this that burned books and set human civilization back by a thousand years during the dark ages. Once they were allowed to get away with burning books, they began to burn people, too. I am not suggesting that Lady Gaga’s output is as valuable as, say, the contents of the great library of Alexandria, but censorship on the grounds of superstitious beliefs must never be permitted in any society with the slightest claim to being civilized.

“The Devil’s Bride”, they say! Could someone please point out to me just who in carnation the Devil is? It appears several Christians know him very well, but I have never beheld him (or her) anymore than I have this Gaga chick. Jeepers, what a crock full of ignorance and self-righteousness.
